Open Access : Finding OA Materials

The purpose of this guide to help students at Independent College Dublin understand what Open Access is, how it is changing the way we publish and consume knowledge, and where they might find Open Access resources related to their subject.

Search Engines

This is the most common way of locating open access materials. There will often be two links, one to the freely-available PDF version in an open access repository and the other to the published version, access to which will be dependent on a subscription.
